1. Antonio Brown

Antonio Brown is a professional American Football player. He has played wide receiver in the NFL for the Pittsburgh Steelers (2010 -2018), Oakland Raiders (2019), and New England Patriots (2019). Brown helped the Pittsburgh Steelers reach Super Bowl XLV with a miraculous helmet catch in the divisional round of the playoffs. However, they would eventually be defeated by Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers 35 – 28. From his deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2016, he was declared the highest paid wide receiver in NFL history. During his Football career as a wide receiver, his player stats include 841 receptions, 13.4 average yards, and 75 touchdowns.

So, what made him the most searched person on Google? First, he was released by the Oakland Raiders and then recruited by the New England Patriots. He was also ranked by Forbes as the 31st highest-paid athlete.

However, these two accomplishments were just the tip of the iceberg in 2019 for Brown. In September 2019, he faced sexual assault charges after Britney Taylor, his former trainer, said he assaulted her on three different occasions in 2017 and 2018. After this news came out, the New England Patriots released him from his contract, and remains a free agent. Since this first assault came to light, Brown has continued to get into trouble with the law in 2020.

However, his career went downhill as fast as it rose. In January of 2019, Smollett claimed that two men attacked him, put a rope around his neck, poured a chemical on him, and used homophobic language in Downtown Chicago. When law enforcement looked into the case further, they found that Smollett paid the two men about $3,500 to stage the attack. Eventually, the charges he faced were dropped after he did community service and paid $100,000+ in fines. The case is still ongoing.
